OMG It’s a Keyboard for Blondes -   MSN Tech & Gadgets - News and Features

Sent to me by a friend, I thought ya’ll would get a kick out of this…

“The all-pink keyboard swaps out standard keys with funnier, dumber key names. The backspace key now says “Oops!” and the entire row of function keys spells out USELESS KEYS. Hit the “$” sign and you get the sound of a cash register clinking.”

DailyTech - Intel, Hitachi Team Up for Enterprise SSDs

Finally! Hopefully this will actually start driving the SSD market for higher capacities and cheaper prices. The mobile market alone would love to see something like this. =)

Cyber Monday - Online Shopping Deals & Coupons

John Tyra | December 1st, 2008

Cyber Monday - Online Shopping Deals & Coupons. Awesome site if you want to see what deals are going on today. It’s like the online version of Black Friday. Downside? The site is kinda slow, and at times it’s not very specific about the ‘deals’. Newegg.com is listed, for example, to have some ‘deals’ between 9AM - 10AM EST, however I don’t see anything on their ‘Cyber Monday’ deals different from what was there a few hours ago.

Still, it’s worth checking out. =)

Could it be a Blue Christmas for Blu-ray? - PC World

John Tyra | November 26th, 2008

Could it be a Blue Christmas for Blu-ray? - PC World. Now here is an interesting spin that I had not previously thought about; how well will the Blu-ray format do compared to DVDs in it’s first head-to-head seasonal buying session against the dominate DVD format. Sure, HD-DVD is not in the mix any longer, so it’s only Blu-ray right? Well, not really, since we are all too eager to forget the previous format. The same held true for the VCR to DVD transistion, which was not overnight but eventually did take over.

So, who knows? Everyone is watching their spending, even with Black Friday just around the corner, so it could be anyone’s game.

Streaming Netflix to Your XBox - BusinessWeek

John Tyra |

Streaming Netflix to Your XBox - BusinessWeek. This is not exactly ‘new’, since Microsoft announced earlier this year (and was covered by the blog here) that they would be offering Netflix streaming to the Xbox console eventually. However, while this may sound ‘new’ it actually has been available to normal Netflix customers over the computer for a while now, as long as you’re not using the least expensive plan. It’s OK I suppose from what I have tried…they have about 10k movies or so available to stream, but they are usually not very new. Hopefully this will change with time as more people start using it on their Xbox.

What is new, however, is the update to the Xbox console. If you haven’t gotten online recently with your Xbox, be sure to fire it up and get your updates! =)

Zune Pass subscribers get to keep 10 songs

John Tyra | November 20th, 2008

Zune Pass subscribers get to keep 10 songs. Wow, this is pretty darn good really. Think about it: @ $1 x 10 songs, you’re getting $10 free per month like the article says, so you’re only paying $5 for the subscription. Not a bad deal, even though I use an iPod myself. =)

The BlackBerry Storm is no iPhone | The Digital Home - CNET News

John Tyra | November 14th, 2008

The BlackBerry Storm is no iPhone | The Digital Home - CNET News. So even users know about the iPhone, and perhaps they have heard of a BlackBerry, but doubtful that they have heard of the BlackBerry Storm. So even if it’s ten times better than the iPhone it probably won’t be as popular or amass as many sales due to it’s popularity and scope. Scope, you say? But of course! The RIM devices are more of a corporate centric item versus a mainstream consumer item, even though they are (of course) equally available to both markets.
